This is a short post that the title mostly explains. Some people fixate on their weight when pursuing a fitness goal but if one has a certain aesthetic look he or she is after, that person will probably have more success achieving that look by focusing on muscle growth and prioritizing the mirror to track changes. Increased muscle mass is what contributes to looking like the commonly used descriptors of being muscular, toned, fit, etc. Tracking weight is helpful in some cases but muscle weighs more than fat so if one is consistently building muscle the weight scale may indicate eight gain which could be misleading. This is partly why the BMI figures that some doctor’s offices use are unhelpful for people with more muscle mass than what’s considered average.
